On Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, Landmark University welcomed her returning students for the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic session. The vibrant campus came to life as students made their way through the university gates, which had opened on Monday, September 30th. The university community buzzed with anticipation for a new season of academic and personal growth.

During the Welcome Assembly, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku speaking on behalf of the Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo and Pro-Chancellor, Pastor Mrs Faith Oyedepo warmly welcomed the students, expressing gratitude to God for the students’ safe return from various parts of the country. In his welcome address, he encouraged the student body to see the new session as an opportunity for introspection, urging them to reflect on the previous session and make decisions aimed at improving their academic performance in the new session.

Emphasizing the importance of discipline, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated Landmark University's firm stance on its attendance policy, assuring the students that this rule would continue to be upheld without compromise. He also called on them to approach their studies with prayer, diligence, and a willingness to seek help whenever needed—from God, the appropriate authority and even their peers. In his words, the university remains committed to its in loco parentis role, ensuring that any issues raised by students will be addressed promptly.

The Vice-Chancellor also outlined key dates for the academic year, starting with the commencement of lectures on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024. Other significant events include the convocation ceremony for the 2023-2024 graduates on the 25th October, scheduled orientations, and the highly anticipated resumption of freshmen with activities that would culminate in their Welcome Assembly and Orientation Week, running from October 26th to November 1st, 2024. He also took the opportunity to introduce the management team for the new session.

Earlier, the Registrar, Engr Adebayo Ajala delivered his message of welcome, wishing the students renewed energy and enthusiasm for their academic pursuits. He encouraged them to remain focused and committed to achieving excellence, highlighting the role students play in cultivating an environment of distinction.

The Deans of Colleges also welcomed their respective students, inspiring them to strive for academic excellence with unwavering dedication. They reminded them of the importance of acknowledging God in their endeavors, noting that success is incomplete without the divine factor.

The Chaplain’s exhortation, titled "Connecting with Help from Above for Exploits," added a spiritual dimension to the day’s proceedings. He emphasized that exploits are not confined by age, size, or background. Quoting the Chancellor, he said, "To ask for help is not weakness, but wisdom." The Chaplain, Pastor Joshua Popoola further explained that while intellectual effort is essential, it must be complemented by divine support for lasting success. In closing, the Chaplain encouraged the students to engage in prayer and seek guidance from lecturers and colleagues when needed. He reassured them that the university’s royal laws, often seen as strict, are designed not to punish but to refine those who choose to embrace them. He also admonished that "Missing lectures and neglecting to study," he cautioned, "are forms of bypassing the process to academic excellence."

With the blend of academic, spiritual, and moral guidance provided, Landmark University’s 2024-2025 academic session promises to be a journey of learning, growth, and impactful achievements. The university remains steadfast in its commitment to shaping a generation of leaders equipped with the knowledge and values needed to transform their world.
