The 4th Convocation Ceremony of Landmark University
On Friday the 14th of July 2017, Landmark University released the Class of 2017 Pathfinders comprising 468 students amid the euphoria that filled the entire University campus, with very excited guests, parents of graduands and the entire community of Landmark University mustered at the Multipurpose Hall.
The Class of 2017 Pathfinders fondly called the Noble Set made the fourth Convocation Ceremony a reality. In the Vice-Chancellor’s Welcome Address, the graduands were “totally groomed to bring solutions to the challenges in the world.” The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan, noted the outstanding performances of the set both locally and globally which have brought remarkable recognition and accolades to the University. One of these included Oladiran Oluwatobi of the Accounting Department who emerged top 3 affiliates of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Nigeria. Oladiran had been previously certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in his third year. Impressively, Oladiran led other 65 first-class degree graduates to emerge the Best Graduating student in the University with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88. Among other remarkable student achievements were 1st Position in the Global Students Entrepreneurship Award (Nigeria) gleaned by Kenechukwu Okafor and 1st and 2nd Positions in the Inter-University Oratory Competition by Adedoyin Adebola and Moyebi Temidayo (who was also the recipient of the 2017 Nigerian Society of Animal Production’s Academic Excellence Award in Animal Science Programme, Landmark University).
The Vice-Chancellor added that the Noble Set pioneered notable landmarks among which were the University’s certificate/diploma in agripreneurship programme, student leadership election electronically, the “Eden’s Experience” to facilitate the community’s social life and student leaders’ working and productive student farm. The Vice-Chancellor therefore charged them to continue to distinguish themselves by continuously impacting their world positively.
The University recorded an impressive academic excellence margin in the percentage of first-class, second-class and third-class degree recipients as compared to that of 2016. 66 students were in the 1st Class category, 252 were in the 2nd Class Upper category, while 146 were in the 2nd-Class Lower category and 4 in the 3rd Class category.
