LANDMARK UNIVERSITY RANKS AMONG THE BEST SUB SAHARAN AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES IN 2023

The Time Higher Education’s Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings 2023 has listed Landmark University among the best Universities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The result of the rankings of universities in Sub-Saharan Africa was published on Monday 26 June 2023. According to the report, the ranking explicitly assessed how well Sub-Saharan African institutions fared in tackling some of the most difficult problems the continent has to deal with. It did this by examining a number of topics, including graduate employability, teaching quality, research impact, and equity.

In this maiden rankings, 121 African sub-continental universities were accessed for the rankings based on data provided directly by the universities - continuous "data as well as evidence data, which follows the logic of the data collected in Impact Rankings), data collected from current students (as part of the student survey), and data supplied by Elsevier (bibliometrics data)" and Landmark appeared on the prestigious list to claim the 49th position.

The ranking was said to have followed a hybrid methodology to account for the diverse strengths of the higher education sector and unlike other rankings which tend to focus on one mission, it covers elements of teaching, impact and research. The ranking indicators are based on research, African-focused impact and SGDs.

The Times Higher Education (THE) is renowned for the most prestigious global rankings providing an annual definitive list of the best universities evaluated across five (5) key areas of Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income.
