Story of the week
THE LEADING OF GOD IS THE HIGHWAY TO OUR HIGH PLACES IN LIFE
“This is a good land filled with opportunities. Many people don't appreciate opportunities until they lose them. God is here”. Such were the mind-engaging opening words of the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor Mrs Faith Oyedepo as she charged the academic community on “Understanding the wonders of divine direction” during the Tuesday Chapel Service for the 300 – 500 level students of Landmark University on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. As Landmark University prepares to commence the 2021/2022 Alpha Semester examinations on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Pro-Chancellor encouraged the student populace to shun all forms of examination malpractices but rely solely on divine direction and help for their desired academic success most especially in the forthcoming examinations.
“Life is a journey which can be frustrating when you don't know where you're going. Divine direction is, therefore, the ability to know the right steps to take towards accomplishing God's plan for one's life. God is always ready to direct anyone that is ready to take direction or who has positioned himself for direction. The young age is the best time to seek divine direction,” Pastor Mrs Oyedepo ministered further with scriptural support from the book of Psalms chapter 23 verse 1, and Isaiah chapter 58 verse 11.
While disclosing that there is a high place God has destined for His children, the Pro-Chancellor asserted that God's leading is the highway to their high places in life according to Habakkuk chapter 3 verse 19. “Without divine direction, we may not ascend the high places,” she noted. She said that God always leads forward and not backwards. She made examples of the Israelites who were led out of Egypt to the promised land, as well as David who always sought the Lord's guidance in all his endeavours. She said the Commission that birthed the University never embarked on anything except it is commanded. She, therefore, encouraged the congregation to take advantage of the grace to seek and enjoy divine direction in their journey to their high places.
Some of the benefits of divine direction mentioned were: goodness and mercy follow them that are led, God himself goes before them (Isaiah 45:2), God goes with them that are led, God works through those that are led (Phil. 2:13), and God works with those that are led.
In her conclusion, Pastor Mrs Faith Oyedepo highlighted the two ways to access divine direction, “to be born again” and “to be meek”, noting that access to God's ways is what makes the believer make waves (Exodus 7:1). She enthused them to approach the examination season with confidence which will help them to put their fear to flight without a fight. She encouraged them to maximise the word of God that has come to them while she earnestly prayed, therefore, that they will not miss their destination in life in Jesus' name.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Time-table and Examination Committee (TIMTEC), Dr Clement Onate had reeled out the examinations protocols to the congregation for corresponding actions and compliance.
