NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS LAUDS EXCELLENT VISIONARY DRIVE IN LMU

The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, FNSE has commended the Management of Landmark University on the excellent drive in motion to achieve the agrarian mandate of the institution. He gave the commendation when he led other officials of the Society on a courtesy visit to the Management of Landmark University under the leardership of Engr. Proessor adeniyi Olayanju. The visit was in view of the Inauguration of the NSE Omu-Aran Branch and the Investiture of the Pioneer Chairman.

The President said the University is most prestigious, noting the positive attitude of Faculty and Staff and a beautiful environment that supports academic activities as the indices. With his observation, he believed that the new-born Omu-Aran Branch of the Society would be in good hands while also expressing confidence in its successful operations. He said, “Because Landmark University is a place of excellence, whatever is entrusted into your hands, I know you will deliver because you have God as the foundation of what you do, for it is written: WITH GOD, NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.” He, therefore, enthused all members to cooperate with God in the affairs of NSE Omu-Aran Branch in order to achieve great things.

The President charged all members to further strengthen the University’s town-gown responsibility by not only replicating the development of the University in the host community but also open her up for developmental opportunities as could be influenced by the Society’s presence towards improving the lives of the people. He said, “The engineering profession is about making things better for the improved living condition of the people and agriculture is the starting point. The establishment of this University would attract everything that has to do with human movement and communication.”

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju while welcoming the NSE President and other officials, said that the event was historic owing to the fact that it served dual purposes – inauguration of the Omu-Aran Branch and the investiture of its pioneer executive members. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the significance of Engineering to the speedy actualization of the University’s agrarian mandate. He said, “The task of enhancing the delivery of the mandate of Landmark University is more paramount, noting the commitment of the current University Management to raising the bar of excellence in driving mechanized agriculture. It is obvious that there is no meaningful mechanized agriculture without the strong input of Engineers.”

He therefore noted that fellow Engineers in and around this University have the responsibility of leveraging on the platform offered by the Omu-Aran Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to make monumental and professional contributions towards actualizing the overarching vision of Landmark University and creating a better society. In furtherance to creating a solid foundation for the Omu-Aran Branch of the Society, the Vice-Chancellor requested that an examination centre be cited in the Branch based on its peculiarity of having in its surrounding more than five Local Government Areas, educational institutions as well as private organizations that engage a lot of young engineers who would desire to progress in their professional career.

He appreciated the President for the confidence reposed in the crop of engineers not only in the University but Omu-Aran and environs to hoist a branch.
