LANDMARK RECEIVES THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY ON COLLABORATION VISIT
On Tuesday 4th
October 2022, the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Professor Charity
Aremu together with members of Landmark University Management warmly received
the management of Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), Oko ably led by the
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Onaolapo on a collaboration visit. The
17-month-old institution had extended a hand of relationship to Landmark University
for mentorship.
According to Professor Francisca
Onaolapo, Landmark University is a cynosure of excellence with exemplary
qualities. She noted that Landmark is renowned for its ranking amongst
world-class universities which signposted its tenacity and consistency in the
pursuit of her vision. She then disclosed that it became imperative following
her appointment as the 2nd substantive Vice-Chancellor of Thomas
Adewumi to visit Landmark University in view of strengthening the existing
relationship between the two universities thereby advancing Nigeria’s higher
education. While commending the visioners and Chancellors of both Universities,
Dr David Oyedepo and Engr. Dr. Johnson Bamidele Adewumi, on siting the universities
in Omu-Aran and Oko, in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State,
Professor Onaolapo noted that the gestures did not only put the locations on
global spotlights of relevance but also exemplify visionary leadership.
Speaking with so much
gusto on the visit, the Landmark University Vice-Chancellor Professor Aremu
expressed the readiness of the University to take up the role of a mentor to
Thomas Adewumi University in furtherance of promoting Nigeria’s higher
education in the global landscape. She noted that the call on University for
mentorship is a call to continue to drive excellence. She, therefore,
highlighted the of Landmark University with respect to research, innovative and
grantsmanship amongst others as areas of collaboration while encouraging the
Vice-Chancellor and her team to own, embrace and run with the vision of their
University as stakeholders; this she added will enhance their level of
productivity with notable result as evidence.
In his welcome remarks,
the acting Registrar, Mr. Olugbenga Olajie had expressed the delight of the
University to host and collaborate with Thomas Adewumi University, noting the
importance of such relevant collaborations in driving the frontiers of the
University’s vision quest. He, therefore, reiterated the commitment of the
University to its vision while welcoming them into the Landmark University
campus.
