LMU INDUCTS NEW STUDENT GOVERNING BODY
On Tuesday 22nd May 2018, a new set of leaders of the Landmark University Student Council (LUSC) for the 2018/2019 Academic Session was inducted by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Adeniyi Olayanju. In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor who admonished the student leaders from the words of the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo at the ongoing special Leadership programme organized for the final year students tagged “Towards Total Graduate”. While reiterating the importance of team work and cooperation, the Vice Chancellor said Leaders should take the lead and not just talk the lead. As much as the head cannot function well without neck, so does a Leader without followers. He further enthused the new set of LUSC to be good ambassadors of the University in all spheres as well as keying into the Core Values of the University. The Students Leaders were charged them to render their services as unto the Lord, “know that your call is to service not just about the title, great Leaders change their world therefore you must be ready to sacrifice a great deal. The Dignity of a man is what we want to restore as leaders among the students and you have a role to play in this”, he added.
The Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Arisukwu Ogadinma congratulated the students for being part of the selected few among the over two thousand student on campus. In his remarks the Dean urged them to be proactive as they play the intermediary role between the Management and students. He said they must be connected to the students to avoid gaps that could give way for lapses. He further advised them to be smart and sensitive in carrying out their respective duties while in office, this he said would prepare them ahead as Leaders proffering solution to the challenges bedeviling the world.
The student governing body amongst others is expected to promote the University’s core vision of developing the Total Man by exposing students to practical applications of leadership principles in governance and polity. Also they are expected to serve as the representative of the University through the Directorate of Student Affairs. Monitor the compliance of the students Body to the University’s rules and regulations to enable her achieve the vision and mission of breaking new grounds and raising students who are worthy in character and learning.
Above all they must develop a community that is committed to one another and is impacting the world for Jesus Christ.
The members of the Landmark University Student Council were inducted into various portfolios to represent the students for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.
The new set of Leaders is being led by Agbojo Daniel as the Chairman, Okoye Afoma –Vice-Chairperson (Female) and Ossai Precious the Vice-Chairperson (Male). Others are Iroemeh Chinoso- Secretary General, Mbanu Valery – Student Chaplain Male, Olasehinde Faithfulness – Student Chaplain female, Ogheneruemu Godstime – Revolutionary Commander, Ogundipe Timilehin – Financial Secretary, Lawal David – Public Relations Officer and Owoyemi Wisdom as the Press Secretary among others.
