BOR SECRETARY CAUTIONS STUDENTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR SAFETY DURING HOLIDAYS
The Secretary to Landmark University’s Board of Regents (BOR), Pastor (Dr) Daniel Rotimi has cautioned the 200 – 500 level students going on Alpha semester break to take responsibility for their safety while they are on holiday, noting that to be on spiritual break is risky. The students were equipped with the guidance to navigate the challenges and opportunities that await them during the Alpha semester break through the words of wisdom and caution during the Departure Service on Friday, March 1st, 2024.
The Secretary to the BOR delivered his charge which he titled "He that keepeth himself, the wicked one toucheth not," with the biblical reference from 1 John 5:18 and Psalm 91:1-7. He emphasized the students' responsibility to safeguard themselves against evil influences and sinful behaviours, urging them to remain vigilant and committed to their faith during their time away from campus. Furthermore, the Secretary to the BOR outlined key principles for staying safe during the break, including nurturing their relationship with God (Jude 1:21), avoiding negative associations (1 Corinthians 15:33), steering clear of idolatry (Romans 1:28), and maintaining their faith (2 Timothy 4:7). He stressed the importance of keeping their minds engaged with positive pursuits, highlighting that idle minds are susceptible to the influence of evil forces.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku extended congratulations to the students for successfully completing their examinations and commended them for upholding the integrity of the academic process. While expressing the management's anticipation of welcoming them back to campus soon, emphasizing the honour that comes with their return, he implored them to go forth with the aspirations of the school and the responsibility to uphold its principles wherever they go.
Also, the Registrar reverberated thoughts of encouragement and reminded students of their role as ambassadors of Landmark University. He urged them to embody the values and teachings instilled within the university community, both on and off campus.
Representing the Deans, the Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences, Dr Ben-Caleb Egbide reinforced the importance of upholding the university's standards and values.
