GREAT EXPECTATION AS LANDMARK SET TO FLAG OFF INTERNATIONAL VISITING VOLUNTEER SCHOLARS PROGRAMME

In line with its strategy to boost Landmark University’s international outlook, the University Management under the aegis of the International Office and Linkages (IOL) received mind-blowing volunteering support from the alumni base in a meeting held with some of the pathfinders in diaspora on Friday 31st March 2023. With great enthusiasm, the pathfinders who represent all the colleges of the University assured the management of their readiness to serve the university from the volunteer platform bringing to bear the role of the body in the advancement of the university.

Speaking on the International Visiting Volunteer Scholars (IVVS) programme, Vice-Chancellor Professor Charity Aremu noted that the volunteering programme becomes necessary to fill the gap of engagement of international faculty members by the University. According to her, leveraging the alumni has presented a bifocal advancement opportunity which includes engaging not only quality and requisite international faculty members but also providing a platform for the pathfinders to either launch or advance their academic careers. She, therefore, applauded the volunteers for their willingness to give back to their alma mater.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran while also expressing confidence in their capacity to deliver quality service to the university as well as in their understanding of the Landmark University context, gave positive remarks on their academic performances and compliance with the royal laws as undergraduates. He further expressed confidence that they would be of great value to the University’s overarching vision quest.

The Registrar, Mr Olushola Oyinloye described the programme as in line with global best practices which if well maximized would further expand the frontiers of the university world-class status. He, therefore, joined the Vice-Chancellor in appreciating the volunteers and describing their actions as noble. He enjoined them to continue to be great ambassadors of the university.

The Deans of Colleges present at the meeting also expressed happiness over the development, especially as it heralds the hybridization of teaching techniques and enhancement of knowledge for the student population. They congratulated the pathfinders on their investement in advanced education which distinguished them for the academic opportunity.

The Director of Landmark University Centre for Research, Innovations and Discoveries (DLUCRID), Dr Oluwasogo Dada also signposted other areas of collaboration with the volunteers which include research, innovations, grants and patents amongst others.

The Coordinator of the International Office and Linkages (CIOL), Dr Akinyomade Owolabi a pathfinder himself noted that the volunteers are the best-graduating students of their various departments while ascertaining their engagement as great value addition to the University. He assured the management that the volunteer programme was positively received by the alumni and that many more volunteers would still join the train.

The Alumni President, Mr Henry Nweke-Love while emphasizing how important the role of their members is in the overall advancement of the University, he appreciated the management for giving the body the opportunity to plough back into the school crediting their post-university success to the education we received at Landmark University.
