GREAT EXPECTATIONS AS PRO-CHANCELLOR WISHES LANDMARK UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY A HAPPY NEW YEAR

The Pro-Chancellor of Landmark University, Pastor (Mrs) Faith Oyedepo wished the university's faculty and staff a happy and prosperous New Year and expressed the hope that they would begin the year with renewed zeal to achieve desired productivity. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Aremu, delivered the message during the Welcome Assembly on Thursday, May 5, 2023 at the University Multipurpose Hall. Her message stated that "New Year comes with New Zeal. How something starts out greatly influences how it turns out. If you start a four-man race and miss the first step, you might not complete it.” Therefore, taking her scripture guide from Ezekiel 22: 30, the Pro-Chancellor called for an individualistic approach towards the fulfilment of the vision of Landmark University.

In furtherance of the foregoing, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled the direction and expectations of management for the academic year. In this regard, she enjoined faculty and staff to embrace the University’s Departure Philosophy for uniqueness, diligence and commitment for productivity, and quality service delivery. Others are to be impact-driven, be a good ambassador of Landmark, ensure hitch-free Alpha semester examination and a robust in-loco parentis role. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor had appreciated God for the success of 2022. “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake…. (Psalms115:1). Indeed, this is our testimony as a Community of Landmark University. What a marvellous God! We are grateful to God for all that he has done for us.”

She also expressed her gratitude to the Proprietor base, the leadership of the Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor, members of Management, faculty and staff of the University for the role played in the year 2022 towards a thriving Landmark University and advocated a renewed commitment of the academic community. “Our unreserved appreciation goes to the proprietor base for the support received all through the year 2022. Spiritual nourishment and financial contributions are worthwhile. As a University, we never take this for granted. We are grateful.

“Again, as a management, we recognize and appreciate both the faculty and staff for their unalloyed commitment to quality teaching, research, community impact, and quality administration throughout the just-ended year 2022.

“The Management therefore beckons on us for a sustainable academic quality. Noting that 2022 has gone, what we have now is 2023. By this welcome assembly today, 5th January 2023, I crave our indulgence for a renewal of commitment.”

In the same vein, the Registrar, Mr Olusola Oyinloye announced new policies and protocols for hitch-free operations in the new year. Notable amongst them was the resumption protocol for both returning and fresh students. He, therefore, sought the commitment and cooperation of faculty and staff to ensure a seamless resumption for the students.

The Chaplain, Pastor Oluwatimilehin Omotunbi, charged the university community on the knowledge of God as One who demands the first place in all things, nothing that that is what determines great exploits in life (Daniel 11:32). He further stated that thanksgiving and praise are required in giving God the first place in their life and endeavours (Revelation 1:8/11; 21:6; 22:13; Psalms 95:2; 100:4). He concluded that preparation is the bedrock of performance, and noted that adequate preparation combined with expectation is what brings about great manifestation.
