FACULTY WOMEN ADVANCE INAUGURATED IN LANDMARK UNIVERSITY

It was a gathering of Women in the academia at the Institution’s International Conference Center on Friday 9th November, 2108, as the Faculty Women Advance (FWA) Landmark University’s chapter was inaugurated. 

Faculty Women Advance Fellowship is a group of academic women, with a mission to connect women with their vision and cultivate dynamic leadership quality, as well as to also harness and maximize opportunity for women to explore and exert their influence. FWA was an initiative of the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University Professor Aize Obayan when she was the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University ten years ago. 

Gracing the epoch making event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju in his remarks expressed delight to be part of the historic event unfolding which he believes would be impactful and result oriented. Noting the importance of women in the society, the Vice-Chancellor added that the inauguration is dream come true for Women Faculty who have aspired to be part of the testimonies of the group in Covenant University, seeing their inclusion as another opportunity for service to humanity. 

Professor Olayanju who admonished the women to always encourage themselves to make exploits cited some great women in the bible such as Jochebed, Sarah, Esther, Martha and Mary as those who have impacted the world and are to be emulated. He also noted the pedigree, steadfastness and the love of God the Matron of the advance, Pastor Mrs. Faith Oyedepo exhibits as values worth imitating. Professor Olayanju therefore congratulates the Coordinator of Women Faculty Advance, Professor Aize Obayan for her commendable contributions culminating in the inauguration of Landmark University’s chapter of the fellowship. 

The Deputy Coordinator FWA Covenant University’s chapter, Dr. Mrs. Tayo George and her Secretary, Mrs. Aderonke Asaolu were on ground for the inauguration exercise. In her presentation, Dr. Mrs Tayo George who shared the vision, mission and the objectives of the fellowship, made it known that some of the activities of the group include, research journal publication for women members, seminars and conferences, welfare packages to women in and outside the campus, secondary school girls, orphanages amongst others. She urged the FWA, LMU Chapter to support the newly constituted executive members while promising their backing and mentoring. 

In her acceptance speech, the FWA, LMU Chapter’s Deputy Coordinator, Dr. Olawale Olamide expressed the Chapter’s readiness to be committed to the vision and mission of the fellowship as she solicits other members support to work as a formidable force. She thank God for the privilege to serve in the capacity as the deputy coordinator as she promise to deliver the mandate of the fellowship in her two year tenure through the grace of God.

A-ten woman executive team was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju and was assisted by the Registrar, Dr. Azubuike Ezenwoke, the deputy coordinator FWA CU Chapter, Dr. Mrs. Tayo George and her Secretary, Mrs. Aderonke Asaolu. Those inaugurated are Dr. Olawale Olamide as the Deputy Coordinator, Mrs. Adegun Adenike, General Secretary, Dr. Ake Modupe, Financial Secretary, Dr. Igbolekwu Chisaa, PRO, Dr. Inyinbor Adejumoke Seminar Officer, Mrs. Akanmode Olushola, Welfare Officer, Dr. Alabi Olayinka CAS Representative, Dr. Oyetade Oluwa Toyese CBS Representative, Dr. Nnaji Chioma, COE Representative and Mrs. Adelani-Akande Tabitha, CPAS Representative.
