Landmark University Hosts ARCON and ICAN for Professional Accreditation Visit
In a bid to uphold academic excellence and ensure the highest standards in education, Landmark University recently welcomed esteemed representatives from the Advertising Regulation Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for the professional accreditation of its Mass Communication and Accounting programmes respectively between 29th November and 7th December 2023.
The visit, marked by rigorous evaluations and comprehensive assessments, was aimed to ascertain the quality and relevance of the academic programmes offered by the University. Led by prominent professionals in the fields of Advertising and accounting, the accreditation team meticulously reviewed the curriculum, faculty qualifications, facilities, and overall infrastructure and engaged the students.
For Mass Communication, the ARCON representatives led by Professor G. Akashoro meticulously evaluated the programme, focusing on the curriculum's currency, industry relevance, and the integration of practical skills into the academic framework. The team assessed the department's facilities, including media labs, studios, library, and equipment, to ensure they meet the industry's demands and foster hands-on learning experiences. Other members of the ARCON team include Mr Ozoemena Mbanefo, Mr Joe-Eugene Onuorah, Mrs Agatha Okonkwo, and Mr Yusuf Abdulateef.
Simultaneously, ICAN's delegation led by Associate Professor T. J. Ayoola FCA delved into the curriculum's alignment with global accounting standards, ensuring that students receive an education that prepares them for the dynamic and competitive landscape of the accounting profession. The team scrutinized the faculty's expertise, the department's resources, and the practical training avenues available to students. Other members of the ICAN team include Dr Adebayo Samuel Olaoye FCA, Mrs Ibukun Adeoye FCA and Mr Isaac Anifowose.
During the courtesy visits of the accreditation teams to the University’s management, the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku expressed his optimism regarding the accreditation visits, emphasizing the institution's commitment to providing quality education that meets national and global benchmarks. He highlighted the university's dedication to producing well-rounded graduates equipped with the requisite skills and knowledge to excel in their respective fields.
With the Vice-Chancellor were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran and the Registrar, Engr Adebayo Ajala, Acting Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences, Dr Ben-Caleb Egbide, the Director of Academic Planning Dr Sola Adebiyi, Acting Director of Centre for Learning Resources Dr Ayooluwa Aregbesola, Acting Head of the Department of Pol. Sci./Inter Rel (Mass Communication) Dr Modupe Ake and Acting Head of the Department of Accounting Dr Samuel Fakile, the Internal Accreditation Committee Chair Dr Bamidele Razaq and the Secretary Mr Abayomi Adisa, and the Head of Corporate and Public Affairs Mr Olugbenga Olajide. The University’s team believed that the accreditation visits would further signpost Landmark University's continuous pursuit of excellence and its unwavering dedication to offering top-quality education in Mass Communication and Accounting as they eagerly await the outcome of the evaluations, anticipating further affirmation of the University’s commitment to academic integrity and quality education.
