LANDMARK UNIVERSITY WELCOMES STUDENTS BACK TO CAMPUS AFTER CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR BREAK

Amidst the excitement of returning and fresh students, Landmark University witnessed a seamless resumption into the academic routine following the Christmas and New Year break. The campus buzzed with activity as students resumed the campus between Saturday, January 6, and Sunday, January 7, 2024, ready to embark on the next phase of the Alpha semester for the 2023-2024 academic session. Subsequently, a series of Welcome Services were held on Tuesday, January 9 and Thursday, January 11, 2024, for 300 – 500 level and 100 – 200 level students respectively where they were stirred with inspiring messages and important updates. Gracing the Welcome Services was the Secretary to the Board of Regents (BOR), Pastor (Dr) Daniel Rotimi who welcomed the students on behalf of the Chancellor Dr David Oyedepo and Pro-Chancellor Pastor Mrs Faith Oyedepo.

During this service, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku expressed gratitude to God for His mercy that safeguarded the university community in 2023 and ushered everyone into 2024 with renewed hope. He specifically acknowledged the pivotal roles played by various individuals in advancing the university's vision, giving special recognition to the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor. Emphasizing the importance of hard work for posterity's sake, the Vice-Chancellor provided an update on the university calendar, highlighting the commencement of examination for the Alpha semester on February 12, 2024.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor offered a welcome admonition, urging students to be prudent in financial management and emphasizing the University's zero-tolerance policy for actions contrary to university regulations. Additionally, he stressed the importance of cleanliness both around them and on campus.

While specially welcoming the freshmen to Landmark University with the assurance that they have come to a good land, the Registrar, Engr Adebayo Ajala reiterated the University’s commitment to giving all students the necessary support towards achieving academic success.  

The Deans of the College of Agricultural Sciences, Dr Olayinka Alabi; the College of Engineering, Professor Emmanuel Ajisegiri; the College of Pure and Applied Sciences, Professor Ayodele Adebiyi; and the College of Business and Social Sciences, Dr Ben-Caleb Egbide delivered inspirational welcome speeches focusing on potential utilization, capacity building, responsibility, and diligence. The overarching message was one of limitless possibilities and the importance of being consciously guided by royal laws for achieving great success.

announced that lectures had already commenced on Monday 8th January 2024 and advised the students to comply with the attendance policy of the University noting that attendance of lectures and other university events are intertwined. Other information he shared bordered on the introduction of student mentoring platform, the policy on the use of sim-enable devices, CHOP schedules, hostel revival prayer and service time, and ongoing admission screening among others. He also called for the celebration of people whose birthdays fell in January. He concluded with the admonition that they plan wisely in 2024 because lack of planning is failure. 

The Chaplain concluded the gathering with an exhortation on "The Understanding of the Power of Prayer and Fasting," citing Luke 19:41-44 as the anchor scripture. He encouraged students to take advantage of the Commission's ongoing 21-day fasting and prayer to prepare themselves for a successful year ahead.
