VICE CHANCELLOR URGES STUDENTS TO REVIEW APPROACH FOR SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC JOURNEY

In the effort of the University management ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku to refocus the students on the core values of the University as the new academic year began, a reorientation general assembly was held in the university which proved to be an insightful platform, providing students with comprehensive guidance and information crucial for navigating their academic journey effectively.

During the assembly, the Vice-Chancellor in a compelling address emphasized the need for students to reassess their approaches for achieving success. Encouraging them to align themselves with the core values and royal laws of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor underlined the importance of these principles in overcoming obstacles on their path to success. According to him, adherence to these guidelines is pivotal for shaping a promising future. While expressing the readiness of both faculty and staff to give their best towards the student’s academic excellence, he urged the students to take responsibility for their academic excellence and integrity. He also called for their collaboration in the continuous forging of a good reputation for the University to ensure that the university maintains its high standard in the global education space.

In furtherance of this effort, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran also underscored the determination of management to ensure constant improvement not only on the academic facilities but also the students’ wellbeing facilities. Additionally, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor shed light on the current state of the university, particularly in relation to the escalating cost of living and its intersection with the university’s ventures. While imploring the students not to be distracted by the current economic realities but to remain focused on their studies and the realization of their dreams, he assured them of the commitment of the University to their well-being and academic excellence.

The Registrar, Engr Adebayo Ajala also noted that management understood the importance of providing a conducive learning environment and that the university would always improve its infrastructure, teaching quality, and student welfare approaches. He encouraged the students to always seek information that would help them, make good use of the University’s facilities and always call attention to damaging infrastructure towards ensuring sustainable academic support services.

Further contributions to the assembly came from various members of management such as the Director of Academic Planning who expounded on student promotion criteria, while the Director of the Centre for Systems and Information Services addressed matters concerning internet usage, course registration and document uploads. Additionally, the Chair of TIMTEC delineated the timetable and examination protocol, academic integrity and plagiarism, offering valuable insights into the academic framework among others.

The assembly provided students the opportunity to raise their concerns, ask questions, make contributions, and offer solutions.
