LANDMARK HONOURS SDG CHAMPIONS COMMEMORATING 2024 THE IMPACT RANKINGS ACHIEVEMENT
In a grand celebration at the International Conference Centre, Landmark University honoured its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champions on Friday, 2nd August 2024. The ceremony, organized by the university's Centre for Research, Innovation, and Discoveries (LUCRID), celebrated the SDG Champions' significant contributions to the institution's remarkable achievement in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
Landmark University, which made its first appearance among Nigeria's top five institutions in the global rankings in 2022, has impressively maintained its position and climbed to be among the top three in 2024. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku, described this milestone as an act of God, crediting divine favour for crowning the university's diligent efforts towards realizing its vision during the event. He expressed profound gratitude to God and acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, whose guidance has been instrumental in setting the university on its successful path.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor also commended the contributions of everyone involved, particularly appreciating the past Vice-Chancellors whose foundational work on the SDGs laid the groundwork for the current administration’s achievements. He emphasized that their collective efforts have positioned Landmark University prominently on the global stage.
Joining in the accolades, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran praised the SDG Champions and the Ranking Committee for their outstanding performance. He urged the entire university community to actively participate in the SDG initiatives, aiming for even greater success in future rankings.
The Registrar, Engr. Adebayo Ajala, also extended his congratulations to the university and the SDG Champions, highlighting their hard work and dedication as worthy of celebration.
Professor Oluwasogo Dada, Director of the Centre for Research, Innovation, and Discoveries, presented the statistical details of the university's success, noting that Landmark University has consistently improved its standings in the rankings each year. He noted that SDGs 7, 4, 12 and 17 were the mileage goals for the University this year 2024. He, therefore, provided an insightful roadmap for future engagement towards driving the frontiers of the goals thereby setting the stage for continued impact and achievements.
The event culminated in the presentation of awards to the SDG Champions and the Ranking Committee members, recognizing their exceptional contributions to the university's success. Congratulations to the Landmark University community.
