ENGAGING DEPARTURE PHILOSOPHY GUARANTEES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The Vice-Chancellor, Landmark University, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju, who is fondly called the Chief Marketing Officer of the Univervity has maintained that youth’s engagement of departure philosophy will guarantee unprecedented and continued academic excellence.

Delivering a Keynote Address at the 2018 Graduation Ceremony of Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta on Thursday, 19th July, 2018, the Vice-Chancellor lauded the remarkable achievement of the students especially the graduating class who have upheld the high standards and reputation of their alma mater. He emphasized the need to further sustain the standards of the school as entrenched in them by embracing departure philosophy that will stand them out among the crowd in their future endeavors. He therefore urged parents to help their children secure an enabling ambience that will stimulate the potentials for national development.

He stated “Departure philosophy provokes the urgency for the needed change in our society. We believe that different result will be a mirage if we are adamant on deploring the same unsuccessful method of doing things. If we want tomorrow to be anything good we must impact positively on the total psyche of today’s youths. In this era when sound academic and moral knowledge drives innovation and development, it is incumbent on well-meaning parents to send your wards to a University like ours where cost-effective leadership training is guaranteed along with cutting-edge research engagement and Christian ethos.”

Professor Olayanju said that Landmark University is committed to raising Kings and Queens, who must understand the demands of royalty and depict them with a view to changing the worldview of decadences and vices. He added that the University imbues in the students seven (7) core values that have the capacity to shape the behavioural pattern of students in alignment with God’s plan for them in their chosen careers. “The core values are our guiding principles shaping who we are. They form the foundation for our academic and corporate culture. They are integrated into the University community, both staff and students exhibiting them and our publics and parents seeing them in our actions,” he stated. The core values include Spirituality, Integrity, Possibility Mentality, Capacity Building, Responsibility, Diligence, and Sacrifice.

The Chairman and Founder of Mercyland College, Chief Ogo Oluwa Bankole, as well as the Proprietress, Dr Mrs Anuoluwa Bankole lauded the passion at which Professor Olayanju is driving the visibility of the University and commended the passion of Dr David Oyedepo, the Chancellor and the tuition free granted for all agricultural programmes.

The event was remarkably attended by the officials of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ogun State, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Mrs. Modupe Mujota as the Special Guest of Honour. Other notable dignitaries included the Royal Father of the Day, HRM, Oba Adeogun, Olu of Igbore accompanied by some Royal Fathers across Ogun State.
