CHANCELLOR CHARGES UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY ON MAKING LANDMARK IMPACT

On Monday, 25thSeptember 2017, the Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents of Landmark University, Dr. David Oyedepo, charged the University community on making landmark impact in the 2017/2018 Academic Session. He stated this during a Special General Assembly at the University Multipurpose Hall.

Dr. Oyedepo asserted that potential does not turn to asset until it is processed through hard work. He enjoined the student body to subscribe to the rules of the University; “enjoy going through the heat, it is the only way to scale new heights in future. The rule will mess you up today so that the real you can emerge. And for the real potential in you to end up as areal asset, you better subscribe to the process”. On making landmark impact, the Chancellor noted that the name Landmark University was given by God as a Covenant to birth landmark academics and graduates whose impact will shake the world. “Everyone is ordained to make to make landmark impact. It is input that determines output and breaking record breaks people, to set a record you must be able to reach abreaking point”.

He, however, warned that discipline is the ticket that guarantees a life of impact when he said “every time any man puts pleasure before work, he lives under pressure. No one in his comfort zone ever succeeds. The world is tired of theory, they want to see proofs. No record breaker runs a normal schedule; those who will jump tomorrow will have to run today because it takes global price to generate global impact”. He also advised on time management and quality input in anyone’s engagement while stating that “there is nothing extraordinary on its own, it is man’s extraordinary input that makes it so. It is the quality of our time that makes our life and that is why it is called a lifetime”.

Furthermore, while stressing the need to maintain an unwavering connection to God, he maintained that it is only when the University community allows God to be at the centre of their lives that they can make landmark impact and be fully persuaded about the future they hope for.

Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi OLAYANJU had welcomed the Chancellor on behalf of the University community. He reported that the 2017/2018 Academic Session has commenced in earnest and the admission process is still ongoing; “I am glad to receive the Chancellor for the first time since assumption of  office and I am very sure that the Chancellor will not live us without blessing us”.

In a related development, the Chancellor also met with the members of Faculty and Staff where he charged them on focus and blessed them for a productive engagement in the new Academic Session.
