CHANCELLOR LMU, DR DAVID OYEDEPO'S 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF LANDMARK UNIVERSITY'S FOUNDER'S DAY CHARGE ON RESOURCEFUL THINKING
On Monday 21st March 2016, Landmark University celebrated the fifth (5th) Anniversary of her Founder’s Day with thanksgiving and praise to the Almighty God for His wonderful Hand in the affairs of the University since inception.
In his address, the Chancellor Landmark University, Dr. David Oyedepo charged the University community to step up commitments towards restoring the dignity of the Black Race via spearheading an Agricultural revolution and salvaging the Continent of Africa from economic downturn. He asserted that there is no problem that has no solution, which is resident in the wisdom of God. He called on everyone to reason and think solution, emphasizing that reasoning is the raw material for solution. He enjoined Africans to shun mediocrity and embrace hard work, which has a capacity to provide solution, adding that race, colour or Continent has nothing to do with one’s intellectual capacity. He enthused that “Landmark University must continue to be seen as a solution centre, as the entire community is equipped to facilitate a better life for all men.”
Reading from the book of Proverbs 6:6-11 and Proverbs 24:30-34, the Servant of God stated that Solomon’s wisdom is the product of his reasoning, which he advised everyone to emulate. He opined that dogged commitment to every task brings solution to every problem. He reiterated that the black race is not in any way inferior to the white; therefore, all men regardless of race should contribute meaningfully to the society and prove to the world that they are solution providers and not liabilities. “Where we are today is not where we are supposed to be, individuals have a lot of parts to play to restore the dignity of Africa. It is crucial for the leaders to be sensitive to the cry of the poor; government should create a right platform for investors to come in.” The Chancellor admonished African leaders to shun power tussle and concentrate more on formulating policies that will alleviate the suffering of the masses by thinking and reasoning aright.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AizeObayan, called on the entire community to drive the agrarian revolution and become solution providers to their world. as she celebrated God’s faithfulness on the operations of the Institution. She reiterated some of the major achievements of the University in the past five years; Professor AizeObayan mentioned the success of Faculty members of the University. According to her, six (6) Faculty were listed among the Google research scholars and a few more, representing the Institution in different parts of the world.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the University has enjoyed a number of linkages and collaborations with reputable organizations across the world, hosted many national and international conferences and received high-profiled citizens in the country and all over the world. Counting the blessings of the University since inception, Professor Aize Obayan returned all Glory to God for giving the University community awesome accomplishments. She however hoped for greater achievements in the years to come, while wishing the entire Landmark community a happy fifth(5th) anniversary indeed.
