“If industrialization would suffice, robotics and artificial intelligence are some of the thematic areas that call for attention”, such was the words of the Acting (Ag.) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Aremu while receiving the Bliss Robot Education Hub Foundation (BREDHUB) at a meeting on artificial intelligence and robotic technology and innovations held on Friday, February 18, 2022.
She noted the fact that Africa is yet to be fully involved in AI and Robotics technology as compared to other continents. Recalling the mission of Landmark University, the Vice-Chancellor noted that to raise a generation of breadwinners, they must be equipped with relevant skills that would meet up with the global challenges. “We can look at our immediate environment to develop solutions that would impact the pro-poor in the society”, she reiterated.
The CEO/MD BREDHUB, Mr Ahamefule Michael, reeling the purpose of the visit, stated that his organization provides learning materials that have simplified coding, robotics and artificial intelligence for prospective students across Africa. Mr Ahamefule made it known that acquired robotic knowledge can be applied to everyone’s daily activities, as he encouraged participants to garner relevant skills in AI and robotics since the world is going in this direction. He appreciated Landmark University Management for receiving his team with so much enthusiasm. Expressing hope that Landmark University would emerge the thirty-seventh institution where BREDHUB would have its meaningful presence, he stated that there are thirty-six Institutions around the world with which BREDHUB is collaborating. He, thereafter, urged participants to embrace the innovations with the intentions of hitting global relevance and limelight.
Bliss Robot Education Hub Foundation (BREDHUB) team later had a physical presentation, showcasing robotics and artificial intelligence at the Landmark University International Exhibition Centre (IEC), which inspired students from the Departments of Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) and Computer Science, who were in attendance.
