THERE IS NO EXPLOIT WITHOUT INPUT CHANCELLOR TELLS STUDENTS AT 2023 2024 STUDENT WELCOME ASSEMBLY
On Tuesday 24th October, 2023, Landmark University held a Welcome Assembly for 200 – 500 levels students returning for the 2023-2024 academic session. The Student Welcome Assembly was more than just a gathering but a pivotal moment in the students’ academic journey poised to inspire the students to approach the new academic year with enthusiasm and determination towards taking full advantage of the opportunities the institution offers.
During the assembly, the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, delivered an enlightening address entitled "Understanding the Master Key to a World of Exploits." He emphasized the critical importance of beginnings, stating that the outcomes of any venture are profoundly influenced by how it commences. The Chancellor emphasized that there is no exploit without input. Drawing from the Book of James (James 1:25), he articulated, "Nothing is extraordinary on its own; it is man's extraordinary input that makes it so." He further stressed that the path to unlimited destiny in redemption lies in embracing spirituality and hard work, the foundation of all success. Dr Oyedepo offered a heartfelt prayer, beseeching that the students' spiritual eyes would open to the glorious destinies that God has ordained for them, enabling them to seek fulfilment and great accomplishments solely through Him. The Chancellor also shared key insights into unlocking a world of exploits, such as a commitment to reading and meditating on the Word of God, emphasizing it as the gateway to life-changing revelations. He encouraged the students to adhere to the teachings of anointed spiritual leaders and consistently declare the Word they receive and believe. He concluded by bestowing blessings upon the university's management, faculty, staff, and students, wishing them a smooth and impactful academic year.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku, had spoken his words of wisdom to the assembly, motivating the students to set their own goals and diligently work towards achieving them. He reminded them that their dreams are within reach through unwavering determination and hard work. Professor Ajanaku also unveiled the University's Vision 2030 and shared highlights of events that transpired during the holidays, encouraging the students not to solely rely on their strengths but to commit themselves to spirituality and trust in God to help them realize their aspirations.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran, reiterated the importance of adopting new strategies and renewing one's determination to meet the challenges of their new academic status. He stressed that it is through their unwavering commitment to academic excellence that students will truly appreciate the fruits of their labour. He welcomed the students back to the campus with joy, expressing his delight in having them return.
The assembly also provided a platform for the Registrar, Engr. Adebayo Ajala, to convey essential information to the student body concerning their academic pursuits and well-being. This information bordered on lecture commencement and attendance protocol, course registration, and chapel attendance among others. He enjoined them to settle for academic engagement in earnest.
The Deans of Colleges and the Dean of Students also warmly welcome their students back to campus with gusto, imploring them to make the most of the new academic year.
The Secretary to the Board of Regents, Pastor (Dr) Daniel Rotimi, encouraged the entire university community to embrace positivity and uphold diligence in their pursuit of the university's vision for a successful realization.

NIGERIAN RED CROSS SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH LANDMARK UNIVERSITY
In a bid to expand its humanitarian reach and foster greater community engagement, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Irepodun Local Government Chapter has expressed interest in establishing a collaboration with Landmark University on Wednesday 10th April 2024. The proposed partnership aims to establish a Red Cross detachment on the university campus, offering students, faculty, and staff an avenue to participate actively in humanitarian efforts.
Mr. James Ibiwoye, Chair of the Nigerian Red Cross in Irepodun Local Government, presented the organization's intentions during a meeting with the University management. He highlighted the existing involvement of university faculty and staff as members and officials of the Red Cross, emphasizing the need for a dedicated detachment on campus to further integrate the university community into the society's initiatives. Members of the Landmark University community in the society were Dr Bamidele Fakinle (Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering) the Secretary of the Society, and Dr Marion Adebiyi (Head of the Department of Computer Science) a member.
In response, the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University expressed appreciation for the consideration of the university in the Red Cross's expansion plans. Drawing parallels between the vision and values of both organizations, particularly in the areas of volunteering and leadership, he underscored the significance of sacrifice as a core value shared by the university and the Red Cross.
Corroborating the Vice-Chancellor were the positive remarks by other members of the university's management present at the meeting, who voiced their support for the acceptance and operation of the Red Cross on the Landmark University campus. The proposed collaboration holds the promise of enhancing the university's commitment to community service and humanitarianism, providing valuable opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to contribute meaningfully to societal welfare.
As discussions progress between Landmark University and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, both parties are poised to embark on a partnership that exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and shared values. Together, they aim to create a platform for fostering a culture of service and selflessness within the university community, ultimately making a positive impact on the broader society.
