LANDMARK HOSTS CONSORTIUM OF KWARA VICE CHANCELLORS

The Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, Professor Charity Aremu on Thursday 9th February 2023 received the representatives of the Consortium of Kwara Vice-Chancellors (KU8). The visiting Vice-Chancellors, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN, Vice-Chancellor University of Ilorin and Professor Francisca Oladipo, Vice-Chancellor Thomas Adewumi University were in Landmark University for the working committee’s meeting in preparation for the upcoming consortium’s monthly meeting.     

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN in his remarks lauded Landmark for attaining the Times Higher Impact rankings. According to him, the consortium of Kwara Vice-Chancellors was established with the goal of creating synergy amongst universities within Kwara State. The synergy he added has a way of impacting as well as assisting the efforts of the universities in the areas of grantsmanship,  proposal to TETFUND, joint proposal, collaboration, joint publication/research and projects on Kwara universities network.  Professor Egbewole made it known that Landmark University is a major stakeholder, hence the confidence reposed in her which led to the choice of Professor Charity Aremu as one of the executives of KU8.

Receiving the Vice-Chancellors, Professor Charity Aremu expressed optimism that in no distant time, KU8 will impact the result of each university in attaining world-class status. She added that the consortium has started working on further driving the SDGs towards ensuring that each university in Kwara will be on the world ranking. 

In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University Professor John Ojediran who shared his excitement over the consortium hoped that the synergy would assist the universities to expressly move to the top in the comity of Nigerian universities. He, thereafter, commended the noble initiative while promising Landmark’s support to what he described as the bailout of the university system in Kwara State.
