LANDMARK CELEBRATES 12TH FOUNDERS DAY
The 12th Founder’s Day of Landmark University held between the 21st – 26th of March, 2023 was a celebration of God’s faithfulness over the University towards the actualization of its tripodal mandate of teaching, research and community impact through an unwavering commitment to its vision, mission, core values and departure philosophy. Since its inception, Landmark University has remained forward-looking as Nigeria’s pioneer private agricultural institution by expanding the frontiers of its vision of raising agripreneurs and agribusiness enthusiasts who are now spread across the nations of the world restoring the African economic fortune.
In the service held to commemorate the 12th Founder’s Day on the 21st of March 2023, the Secretary of the University’s Board of Regents (BOR), Pastor Tope Johnson charged the University community to see the happenings in the university as acts of God. In his sermon titled “The Virtues of Thanksgiving”, Pastor Johnson noted that the celebration was to give thanks to God who is the Founder and Funder of the university for both tangible and intangible blessings and not to arrogate credit to any man. He said ingratitude is dangerous and often places a limit on the ungrateful. According to him, thanksgiving preserves and multiplies blessings. “The value placed on a thing determines the flow of virtue from it. What you don’t appreciate will depreciate,” he added. He, therefore, admonished the community never to take God’s blessing for granted through ingratitude, murmuring and complaining all of which are blessing destroyers. He said the university and its members will rather enjoy speed, and unending supplies among other things when thanksgiving is upheld.
Also using the opportunity to take a look at the developmental trajectory, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Aremu highlighted the current infrastructure in the university while reimagining its future. She said that the university has enjoyed speed within the last 12 years. She noted that the university with the help of God has left where it used to be and has been able to maximize the rich investment of the proprietor base towards accelerating the actualization of its vision. She said the engagement of the investments has culminated in improved academic quality, fellowship & awards for both staff and students, top-notch research and publications in Scopus-base journals, high rankings globally, and requisite partnerships among others. In the coming years, the Vice-Chancellor looked forward to more capacity-building opportunities for both staff and students, increased investment in infrastructure/technology, improved quality model to students, and improved quality teaching, research and innovation.
The Vice-Chancellor also gave due recognition to pioneer faculty and staff who have demonstrated dedication and service to Landmark University. Amongst these are Professor Babatunde Adebesin, Professor Olasunkanmi Bamiro and Matron Christy Ndako who shared their Landmark story to inspire others as well as expressed joy over the continuous and steady growth of the University. She, therefore, appreciated the grace of God upon the Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo and the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor Mrs Faith Oyedepo for yielding to the voice of God to establish and nurture the university. She appreciated the Board of Regents for their invaluable support, and the management both past and present, faculty and staff of the university for their contributions.
Earlier, the Registrar, Mr Olusola Oyinloye had highlighted some of the accomplishments of the University in the last 12 years. He said it has been “12 years of raising an army of pathfinders, pacesetters and trailblazers impacting the world and making it a better place for all. It has been 12 years of promotion of academic excellence, 12 years of subscription increases, 12 years of visibility among top-ranking world-class universities, 12 years of international awards and recognitions, 12 years of divine supplies.” He noted that the success story has cut across all areas of the university.
On Sunday, 26th March 2023, the management, faculty, staff and students of the University held the 12th Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel. The faculty and staff of the University expressed great joy over the celebration as they praised God in their dance and songs.
