Samuel Ayo Faseyi was born on Saturday, 31st October, 1953 at Obbo-Aiyegunle, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.  His father was Pastor David and Mrs. Dorcas Faseyi.

He attended Saint Luke’s LGEA Primary School in Obbo-Aiyegunle (1962 – 1968), Babalola Memorial Grammar School, Odo-Owa (1970-74), and Kwara State College of Technology (1974-1976

He was admitted to the University of   Ibadan for his B.Sc. Economics, M.Sc. Agricultural Economics and PhD Agricultural Economics in 1979, 1985 and 1994 respectively. He has Certificates in Agricultural Project Planning and Analysis, (Washington DC 1982), Debt Strategy and New Financial Analysis (WAIFEM and DRI, 2006), e- Government Leader (2005), Website Design and Maintenance (2007).

He did his mandatory NYSC in Niger State. He was appointed as Planning Officer II in the Niger River Basin Development Authority in July 1980, and rose to the position of an Assistant Chief Planning Officer.  In April, 1993, he was appointed as Chief Extension Officer with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), became the Kwara State Director of NALDA in 1996, Coordinator, Federal Dept. of Rural Development in 2000, and that of NAPEP in 2002.

Dr. S.A. Faseyi was promoted as Director of Administration in the Federal Civil Service of the Federation in 2007. In that capacity he served as Director HRM in the Office of Surveyor General of the Federation (April 2009); Director (Navy) Ministry of Defence (April 2010); and Director Governance, NEPAD from 2011-2013 when he retired from the Federal Civil Service.
