UNILORIN VICE-CHANCELLOR VISITS LANDMARK UNIVERSITY
On 2nd July, 2012 Landmark University received the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede who led a 50 member team on a courtesy visit to the University.
In her welcome, the Registrar, Landmark University, Mrs. Mary Aboyade extolled the cordial relationship between Unilorin and Landmark in her less than two years of experience.
The host Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M. Ola-Rotimi Ajayi welcomed Prof. Is-haq Oloyede on behalf of the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, and expressed the University’s pleasure at hosting him and his team. He commended the Unilorin Vice-Chancellor as a leading leader, especially his progressive leadership as the Chairman, Association of Vice-Chancellor of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU).
Prof. Ajayi expressed the desire of Landmark University to partner with Unilorin in diverse areas of Agriculture and Engineering, in driving the philosophy of the proprietor of the University towards an agrarian revolution. To underline this desire, the VC stated that one of the first places the Management of the Institution visited at takeoff was the University of Ilorin Teaching and Research Farm.
In his response the Unilorin VC, thanked his host Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception accorded his team even at short notice. Prof Is-haq Oloyede acknowledged the leadership qualities of the Chancellor of Landmark University, Dr. David Oyedepo, whom he described as a man of quality and vision. According to him “I know that in everything he does, he looks at it not just as Divine but as pragmatic as possible because he is a multi-dimensional person.” The Universities in Nigeria, he also noted, will forever be grateful to the Chancellor for his role in the educational sector. He particularly observed that both Landmark and Covenant University are pride to University of Ilorin, because those who have been at the helm of their building processes were once part of the University of Ilorin.
Prof. Oloyede commended the level of infrastructural development on ground, and pledged the cooperation and partnership of his University with the young University. The first step, according to him, in this direction, would be a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration with the College of Agricultural Sciences of Landmark University with a view to promoting learning, research and community development.
Present at the occasion in addition to the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of Landmark University were the Deans of Colleges, Prof. Enoch Oyawoye, (Agricultural Sciences), Prof. Josiah Bello, (Science and Engineering) and Prof. Sunday Otokiti, (Business and Social Sciences.)
On the entourage of Unilorin’s VC were the three Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Olowoleni, who represented the Registrar, Dean Post Graduate School, Dean Student Affairs, Deans of Faculties, eminent Professors of the University, amongst others.
