LANDMARK UNIVERSITY HOLDS SECOND MATRICULATION

Cross-Section of Matriculating Students

On Friday, 10th February 2012, at 10.00am, Landmark University formally inducted its second batch of 755 students into the University. The event which took place at the University Multipurpose Hall was preceded by a public lecture on Thursday 9th February, 2012. The lecture was delivered by the renowned Professor (Rev. Fr.) Godfrey Nzamujo, of the Songhai Centre, Porto Novo, Republic of Benin.

The choice of the famous agriculturist aligns perfectly with the University’s vision and commitment to an agrarian revolution, in which all members of faculty, staff and students are major stake holders.

The Matriculation keynote address was presented by Prof. J. A. Okhuoya, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.), University of Benin and Vice President of the Governing Board of Regents, Benson Idahosa University Benin.

The Vice Chancellor, Landmark University Prof. Ola-Rotimi Ajayi also gave an address on “Universities Agriculture and the Growth of Nations”.

Why is this year’s matriculation so dear to our heart? At Landmark University we celebrate possibilities in every opportunity given to us. Our mandate as an institution, in the words of our Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo “… is to empower students towards national reconstruction, reconciliation, socio-economic development and restoration of human dignity by driving a change philosophy via the vehicle of higher education.” And we are already celebrating this because our drive is the marriage of what we stand for and what we know tomorrow will bring to us.

Our students, the center of our attention, who are on the path towards being total graduates, are a special specie who as the Chancellor stated, are being groomed to be mentally resourceful, enterprisingly self-dependent, futuristically visionary and responsibility-sensitive to the changes demanded for the leadership role, they are made for.

Present at the event were traditional rulers, Pro Chancellor andVice Chancellor, Covenant University, Ota, Pastor Yemi Nathaniel and Prof. Aize Obayan respectively, members of the Board of Regents of the University, heads of tertiary institutions, government parastatals, private organizations, professional bodies and many others.

The event ended with the Chancellor’s prophetic blessings on the Matriculated students.
