Landmark University Visits Unilorin, Agricultural Institutions in Kwara State

To further its commitment to community service and establish cordial relationship with relevant institutions, the Management of Landmark University led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof M. Ola-Rotimi Ajayi embarked on another series of courtesy visits to the managements of National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), University of Ilorin and Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), all in Kwara state.

 

At NCAM the Vice Chancellor said the major objective of Landmark University is the promotion of agriculture, therefore it is a partner in progress to NCAM, recognizing the pivotal role the latter is playing in the area of mechanized agriculture to identify possible areas of collaboration.

 

The Executive Director of NCAM, Engineer Ike Azogu who was impressed with the quality team the Chancellor had chosen to pioneer propel the vision of the University, said there are lots of areas of collaboration between the two institutions, considering the human capital, technological and intellectual resources at the disposal of NCAM to the advantage of the students and the entire University as a body. He therefore gave assurance of his unwavering support in whatever form to the University. He later took the team round the facilities and tools fabricated by the Institutte were displayed.

At University of Ilorin, Prof Ajayi commended the leadership of the University for the exploits the institution has demonstrated over the years, adding that Landmark University’s area of focus is agriculture whis is demonstrated in the opening of the Landmark Farms even before the University itself was commissioned. He said Landmark University recognizes the leading role University of Ilorin is playing in many areas and as a new tertiary institution in Kwara State would seeks to explore areas of meaningful collaboration between the two institutions.

 

The Vice Chancellor of Unilorin, Prof Is-haq Oloyede who was excited that the Vice Chancellor is a product of Unilorin wished Landmark University good success and stated that the institution owes it a responsibility to play a brotherly role to Landmark University by offering every possible assistance to it. The Landmark University team was taken by Prof Y.A Abayomi to the university farm.

At  ARMTI, the VC said the essence of the visit was to identify with the institute and commend the good work it has been doing in the area of agricultural development in the country. He also noted that Landmark University was designed to be a centre of excellence in the area of agriculture.

 

The Executive Director of ARMTI, Mr. S.O Afolayan stated that the Institute is affiliated to the Afro-Asia Rural Development Organization and has trained about 30,000 managers in 30 years. He appreciated the Management team for making ARMTI one of its point of call while pledging his support to the development of Landmark University. he later took the team round the training facilities in the institute.

Highpoints of the three visits were presentation of gifts to the managements of the three institutions by Prof Ajayi. His team on the three visits were Prof Jones Adeniyi of Engineering Department and Prof E. O. Oyawoye, Dean College of Agricultural Sciences.
